Glasgow House Sparrow Project

The Glasgow House Sparrow Project was started as a collaboration between RSPB Scotland and the University of Glasgow’s Institute of Biodiversity, Animal Health, and Comparative Medicine (IBAHCM) in 2014. Their big question: why was Glasgow’s urban house sparrow population disappearing and what could be done to help these charismatic birds recover? The project is led by Dr Ross MacLeod (University of Glasgow) and Dr Kat Jones (RSPB Scotland) and includes IBAHCM researchers Dr Ruedi Nager and Professor Jason Matthiopoulos, Honours and Masters students, a dedicated team of RSPB volunteers, and a public outreach team.
